Ismail Kadare is a well-known Albanian writer. For an interesting
introduction please read
If they built a bridge, by Christian Lorentzen.
With a few exceptions, Kadare's works are all interesting. However,
English editions of Kadare's works are a bit limited because they have been
translated from Vrioni's French translations, not directly from Albanian.
French and German editions, translated by Jusuf
Vrioni and Joachim Rohm respectively, sound much better (so I've been
told).
